- Enter The Void by Gaspar Noe
2011
9.8/10
ENTER : Tokyo, Apartment, DMT, Book of The Dead, Death & The Ultimate Trip. Enter The Void shows you Oscar’s life after his death, through his own eyes, while he’s experiencing the entire thing, out-of-body. The film deals with the relationship between Oscar and his sister Linda, his relationship with drugs, friends, the loss of his parents, and his own life & death in Tokyo. Its a friggin’ trip yall. Viewer Be Warned : You’re in for a mental AND optical workout.. And Viewer Be Damned: go pick this up on Blue Ray, and go viddy that shit. Finally, since people like to compare, I’ll say this film is kind of like Requiem For A Dream mixed with a first person windows media player visualization on baaad acid. Enjoy THE VOID

- Fire Walk With Me by David Lynch
1992
9.1/10
Laura Palmer is like Alice In Wonderland: a bump before class, some sex in the basement, a lot of smooth talk, too many suitors and plenty of hallucinations. It’s just that instead of a tea party, its an orgy, and the Queen of Hearts is raping you, and she’s your father. I might have spoiled the entire series of Twin Peaks for myself, but the hell with it. If I watched a prequel to a series that was made after the series ended, Im probably going to feel like a genius watching the show. This movie cleared the room twice while I watched it. It’s Lynchian sequences were some of his best. And the more I sit here comparing it to Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, M-Drive and the like… The more I’m thinking this is going to the top of the fucking pile! Well not quite, but Kyle Maclachlan’s blowin’ up the spot.
“Faster and faster… until after a whle you wouldn’t feel anything… and then your body would just burst into fire. And the angel’s wouldn’t help you, ‘cause they’ve all gone away…” - David Lynch & Robert Engels
- King Of New York by Abel Ferrara
1990
5/10
My major problem with this movie is every frame between the 14th and 17th minute marks. The reunion between Frank White & his gang, at least for me, is painful to watch. I’ve heard a lot of people put King Of New York up there with all the classic gangster movies, but bullshit on that. Its weird, I love Walken, and I think Ferrera’s direction is slick. The colours, close-ups, the score, it all works but Walken has too many slips from a believable character for me. Its not just the hip-gyrating either, that dialogue between Fishburne and Walken is fucked. And after the gang leaves, Walken breaks the 4th wall for a 2nd time (intentionally??). Watch as he continues, in what seems to be ad-lib, about King Tito’s gloves. It’s bizarre to watch because his speech appears to be directed either towards no one, or to the guy operating the boom. KONY has its moments though, and lots of great lines that have been sampled to death in Hip Hop. But with that said, I’d probably only recommend this film so that someone that could help me understand whats happening in that reunion scene.

The feature length finale to the Degrassi series, this made for TV movie kicks ass! You get to see the old gang smoking weed, drinking beer, getting laid and saying ‘fuck’. Degrassi High & Junior High always tackled the big issues, this one’s no different. In many ways, Murphy’s Law is in effect. If you take Bronco’s lake party for an example : An engagement is broken, Allison almost drowns, Snake has an anxiety attack, Wheel’s kills a two-year old boy and Lucy is blinded & paralyzed. Not the ideal way to end the summer, but in Degrassi, nothing’s ever easy. Gowan’s ‘Moonlight Desires’ haunts me on the soundtrack and Joey is really on his A-game: playing 2 of Degrassi’s hottest, while riding Snake like never before. Poor Wheel’s but we all saw it coming. I liked this so much I may have to watch episode 1 of Degrassi: TGN .

This is the classic story of Jobe, a mentally challenged landscaper who becomes Cyber-Christ. Dr. Angelo (Pierce Brosnan) conducts experiments for the military on monkey’s using intelligence enhancing drugs and virtual reality. A monkey goes berserk and Angelo decides its time he continue his experiments on a human. In comes Jobe, abused by his priest and alone in his shed. Dr Angelo uses his techniques to enhance Jobe’s intelligence, however Jobes power’s extend to include, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, telepathy & mind control. Conviced his next step is to become “pure energy” and enter the Mainframe, Jobe seeks his revenge on the physical world before entering the Mainframe.. I love the visuals in this movie, it’s like Short Circuitz on more Acid. 1992’s view of the near future really kicked ass and everyone is so excited to see their hands represented virtually!
